The Historic Wollman Rink

The Wollman Rink that many millions of visitors enjoy today would not have been possible without the investment and vision of Donald J. Trump and the continued dedication of The Trump Organization. While the story of Wollman Rink dates back to 1949 with the incredible generosity of Kate Wollman, it was brought back to life by a young businessman who was quickly making his mark on the Manhattan skyline and saw what was happening at the Wollman Rink. In 1986, after almost a decade of false starts, construction issues and almost $20 million of City money invested in the reconstruction, then-Mayor Ed Koch turned to real estate developer Donald J. Trump to get the job done. Mr. Trump saw the potential from day one and knew this jewel could no longer be forgotten. Given his expertise in both the public and private sector, the project was successfully completed for $2 million in just four months --- ahead of schedule and under budget. The Wollman Rink would be later known as one of the greatest comeback stories in Manhattan. While most known for building iconic skyscrapers, world-class hotels and championship golf courses, The Wollman Rink, Lasker Rink and historic Central Park Carousel will remain a wonderful part of the history of the Trump Organization. We are incredibly proud to have saved these beloved icons and have been the proud caretaker for many decades. Our team ran a flawless operation that provided a memorable, safe and enjoyable experience every single day for New Yorkers and visitors from around the world. We are tremendously proud of the programs we have built and the legacy we leave behind. We hope that these properties will continue to thrive and be cherished.
