In 1986, after almost a decade of false starts, repeated construction related issues and millions of dollars wasted on the reconstruction of the Wollman Rink in Central Park, Donald Trump stepped in. Mr. Trump completed the job in less than six months and at no cost to the city. Since the opening, The Trump Organization has maintained and operated both the Wollman and Lasker Rinks and continues to successfully run these facilities today.

In 1988, Donald Trump purchased the Plaza Hotel, one of New York City's most beloved icons.
